A woman is a being whose wing Is so broad, gathering and mothering Like the perennial river. A woman is a being overstepped for too long Yet she manages albeit in a muffled voice To show love to the world. A woman is the invisible pillar Who has stood over the centuries Giving life to the world. A woman is the scapegoat, carrying the blame When the rains delay, when the dust rise, when a child is slow, She will apologize on God’s behalf. A woman is the healing hand, soft and gentle, Caressing away our pain…. For pain is the absence of love. A woman is the intellect that fixes it all; The altar, the rosary beads, the disabled child, the secret gardens, a man’s face. She is the beauty only noticeable in her absence. A woman is God’s choice to new life, The world’s miracle worker, taken for granted. It will take a woman to fight and end abortion. A woman is the old Eve, mocked for meddling, Rejected and dejected as the Second Sex, Yet still she rises! Oh!
